Most Christians says that Sunday is the Lord’s Day, the day of worship and rest from any work because that is the day that Jesus rose from the dead. Saturday is also considered as the day of religious adoration and also rest from any work in Judaism and other Christian denominations. So, what does bible says about original Sabbath day? In the consecutive six days you can do any work but you must stop all your work in the 7th day to make it holy (Exodus 20:8-10). So, it is clear that no pointed day is the 7th day. But Moses declared to keep the Sabbath day on Saturday because God saved them from hand of Egypt on that day (Deuteronomy 5:15). The Sabbath day meaning is to stop any work, rest day, worship day, and your mind must only for God. But God is seen inaccuracies on them; they are still not following the law of Sabbath day (Amos 8:5). So, God is angry with them and they were told to stop the Saturday as Sabbath day (Hosea 2:11; Lamentations 2:6).
What Jesus Christ did during the Sabbath day?
When Jesus Christ came, the Jews still kept their Sabbath day on Saturday. But Jesus Christ does not rest on the day of their Sabbath and he allows his apostles to reap grain which is not allowed in the Sabbath day (Mateo 12:2). In the Saturday day again, Jesus Christ heals the paralyzed person and told him to pick up his mat and walk which is also not allowed in the Sabbath day (John 5:8-9). In the old testament said; Do not take anything in the Sabbath day (Jeremiah 17:21). Why Jesus made it? Because he knows that God the father already told them to stop the Saturday as Sabbath day.
So, the fulfilment of God message in the book of Hosea and Lamentations was occurs when Jesus Christ came. That’s why the Jews want to kill him for not following the Law (John 5:18). The bible says that the Sabbath day will remain forever and I can say yes! Sabbath day will continue according to the bible but not Saturday anymore because God would have spoken about another day of rest still to come, this rest is for the real people of God (Hebrews 4:8-9). Well, if there is a change of the day as Sabbath day, who change the Sabbath day? Jesus Christ said that the son of man (means Jesus) has the power to decide even in Sabbath day (Mateo 12:8).
Why Christians in Roman Catholic Church worship to God on Sunday?
Now, some verses show the signs that there is a special day for the people of God (Christians) as already says in Hebrews. This is the reasons why Roman Catholic Church worships on that special day that God make it holy and rest day for his people. You will see it below.
- [First day of creation] The God start to create the light, he called it as a sun, there was a morning and evening (one day, first day, Sunday) (Genesis 1:1-5).
- Jesus Christ rose from the dead on Sunday (Mark 16:1-6).
- Christians happy and worshiped him when Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday (Mateo 28:1-9).
- Holy Spirit comes to all believers in the day of Pentecost (Sunday) (Acts 2:1-4).
- Paul and believers celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week (Sunday) (Acts 20:7).
- Paul told to all Christians to give some donations every first day of the week (Sunday) (1 Corinthians 16:2). Paul said that don’t let anyone to judge you with regards to a Sabbath (Colossians 2:16)
Summary
God told Moses to give the Law on his people and they should follow the rule on Sabbath day, but his people did not follow. God was angry to them and told them to stop their Sabbath day (Saturday). So, what is that day that God considered as the replacement for Saturday? God creation is the first day (Sunday) the creation of sun, Jesus Christ rose from the dead on Sunday and Christians worshiped him on that day, Holy Spirit comes (Sunday), and tradition for the apostle to celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Sunday) and Paul told to believers to give some donations every first day of the week (Sunday). The Jewish sabbath day is Saturday when we submit our calendar today. According to the scripture, "The seventh day is the sabbath and sanctify it" but God does not say that Saturday is what he says on the Sabbath day. On Saturdays, Moses only assembled it on Saturday as they were celebrating because the Israelites were saved from the hands of the egyptians on Saturday. Got it?
